As a warm-eyeshadow-lover I have been eyeing the Smashbox Ablaze Cover Shot Eye Palette since it was released. This collection was a collaboration with actress Shay Mitchell. As a huge Pretty Little Liars fan I knew I had to get SOMETHING from this collection. So, I am excited to share my review and swatches with you.
Let me start by saying that this palette is small. I had not seen this palette in person so I was actually surprised at how small it was. However, the price ($29 for 0.27 oz) is more than fair for this travel-friendly palette. I also appreciate that there is absolutely no wasted space in this palette and the individual pans are reasonably sized.
For me, this palette has everything that I need to create a complete eyeshadow look. It has a matte brow bone highlight, a dark brown that is perfect for eyeliner, and plenty of options for all over lid shades. I have been using the warm chocolate brown shade in my crease and I find that it suits the other eyeshadows in this palette perfectly.
For me, I found that these shadows were pigmented yet very easy to work with. Some of the shades were creamier and more pigmented than others. With a primer, they lasted on my skin for a full work day (over 8 hours). Tip: if you are looking for a good eyeshadow primer, Smashbox actually makes one of the best ones that I have tried!
I really enjoyed the Smashbox Ablaze Cover Shot Eye Palette! This palette was sent to me by Smashbox but I actually requested this particular product. So, I am not really surprised that it was a huge hit for me. If you are a warm eyeshadow lover then you DEFINITELY need this palette.
I love that this palette is super travel friendly and you can create so many COMPLETE looks with it. I cannot tell you the number of times I have bought an eyeshadow palette only to bring it home and stare at it thinking “Ok, now what do I do with you?!” With this palette, I have the complete opposite experience. I look at it and I am so inspired because the colors compliment each other so well.
The Smashbox Ablaze Cover Shot Eye Palette is available at Smashbox, Sephora, Ulta, and Macys. If this palette look too warm for you, I would recommend checking out Golden Hour. I plan on picking up that palette as well!
