One of the main questions I always get from family and friends about my blog is “what can we do to help?”. I thought it might be time to share this information with my readers in case you would like to support me or whoever YOUR favorite bloggers are!
SHARE THEIR CONTENT
When I read a blog post that I have enjoyed, I love to share it on one of my social media channels. This helps get the bloggers content out there AND gives them feedback that you enjoyed their post enough to share it with your own followers. Share a post you love on Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter, etc. This helps bloggers so much because it allows them to reach people that never would have seen their blog otherwise.
LEAVE THEM A COMMENT
The entire reason that I started my blog was because I LOVED talking to my friends about makeup. A lot of times, I will publish a blog post and there will be crickets. I can see that there is traffic coming to the blog but I do not receive any comments. First, this makes me sad because the point of this blog is for me to chit chat with friends about makeup! Second, it sends a message to me that you aren’t interested in what I have to say or did not find that post helpful.
GIVE THEM ENCOURAGEMENT
Blogging is tough. What you see on Instagram (the fabulous PR packages from brands, and other fun “perks” of blogging) is what bloggers choose to show. What they don’t show is all of the crap that goes on behind the scenes. Most days, blogging feels like high school. People online, fellow bloggers included, can be catty and mean. The blogging community *can* be incredibly cutthroat and competitive. I have almost quit my blog multiple times. However, I will receive random (but much needed) encouragement from one of my readers that reminds me why I do this and put up with all the “crap”. This encouragement means so much and I actually have them all saved on my phone to look at when things get tough.
USE THEIR AFFILIATE LINKS
This may be controversial but I am firm believer that you should use a blogger’s affiliate links. It is incredibly expensive to run a blog and these small commissions are one of the few ways that we can recoup those costs. Using a bloggers affiliate links also does not cost you anything. It literally has zero effect on your purchase. My request is that if you are reading a blog post and it inspires you to purchase the product, please click on the links within the post before you make the purchase. If you would like to take it a step further, most bloggers will include a list of affiliate links somewhere on their blog. Mine can be found to the right of this post:
If you click on one of these links, it will take you directly to the store and I will earn a small commission on whatever you purchase. Plan on shopping the upcoming Nordstrom Sale? Click on my Nordstrom link prior to making your purchase and I will earn a small commission.
I hope that you found this post about how to support your favorite bloggers helpful. I was inspired to write this post after learning that a fellow blogger quit her blog after experiencing some of the issues that I mention in this post. So, I really encourage you to support your favorite bloggers in any way that you can!
