How to Save Money on Makeup
I spend a lot of money on makeup. It is embarrassing actually. However, I have found a few tricks that have helped me save money on makeup.
If someone mentions a makeup product, and now you want to buy it – Google it first. For example: I really wanted to buy the eyeshadow Uninterrupted by MAC after Alexandrea Garza mentioned it in one of her YouTube videos. So, I Googled “MAC Uninterrupted vs” and saw that Bobbi Brown – Camel (an eyeshadow I already own) showed us as one of the options. I can’t tell you the number of times I have done this and found that I already own a dupe in my collection (especially for lipsticks!!).
Another way to save money on makeup is to use eBates. I remember when I first heard of eBates and I thought it had to be a scam. However, I have been a member of eBates since 2011 and have earned a lot of money just by online shopping! All you do is go to eBates, click on the store you want to shop at and you will get cash back on your purchase. For example, Sephora is currently offering 4% cash back. When you make a purchase from Sephora online you will automatically earn 4%. This money will be paid to you every 3 months (deposited directly into your PayPal account). If you would like to sign up for eBates, please consider using my referral link here.
Pinterest Wish List
As soon as I find a product that I want to purchase I pin it to my Pinterest Wish List (or save it on my blog wish list). I then use this board in a few ways. I will review my board every now and then and see if there are any items on my wish list that I am no longer interested in. This happens more often than you would think. I get caught up in the “hype” surrounding a new product launch and realize later that I do not even want the product.
- If I find out that a brand is having a sale (for example, the recent Too Faced 40% off sale) I will use my wish list as a guide for what to buy. I find that this stops me from frantically buying everything just because it is discounted and actually buy the things that I have been wanting to purchase for a while.
