The “makeup market” is so over-saturated. Brands are coming out with new products every day. In order to set themselves apart, a lot of brands have come out with super creative and innovative products. In my opinion, some of these products are just plain gimmicky. However, I have found three gimmicky makeup products that I now swear by and use everyday in my makeup routine.
Makeup Setting Sprays
This makeup spray from MAC is super popular. However, I only use it for one purpose. I spray this after I have applied my makeup to make my face look less powdery. I use this spray EVERY day. I have super oily skin so the products that I apply can sometimes make my face look cakey and powdery. This spray is a miracle worker. It does not prolong my makeup but it makes my makeup look much better.
I then immediately follow it up with a makeup setting spray to prolong my makeup. I first used a makeup setting spray for a night out with friends. I still remember going into the bar bathroom late in the night and fully expecting to look like a hot mess (literally and figuratively). I could not BELIEVE that my makeup was still completely intact. I have used a makeup setting spray every day since then. My favorites setting sprays are this one from Urban Decay and the Oil Control Setting Spray from Skindinavia.
I am still not convinced that any of my face primers actually do anything for me. However, I think that eyeshadow primers make a huge difference for my eyeshadow. My absolute favorite is this one from MAC. It prevents creasing and prolongs my eyeshadow. I have also heard that this one from Smashbox is an exact dupe for the MAC eyeshadow primer but I have not yet tried it.
When my friend recommended this Dior mascara primer I thought she was crazy. Why do I need to apply this to my lashes before my mascara? I am SO glad I listened to her and tested it out. It makes such a difference in the length and volume of my lashes. A good mascara primer can transform a “so-so” mascara into a great mascara. The Dior primer is amazing, but I actually prefer this one from Lancome. They perform exactly the same but I prefer the smaller wand on the Lancome one.
Do y’all use these makeup products? What other gimmicky makeup products do you love?!
