I will be honest, I do not have a HUGE makeup brush collection. I attribute this to the fact that I do a lot of research online before I purchase any makeup brushes. It has saved me a ton of money because I usually end up with awesome makeup brushes that I really love. As a result, this blog post of my favorite makeup brushes of 2016 is really easy to write because I know my absolute favorite makeup brushes. So, without further “ado”, here are my favorite makeup brushes:
For applying foundation: Sigma F 80 Flat Kabuki Brush + IT Cosmetics Heavenly Luxe Flat Top Buffing Foundation brush #6 – These brushes are round and dense and are perfect for buffing in your foundation quickly and effortlessly.
For applying concealer: Beauty Blender Pro – This makeup sponge makes your skin looking airbrushed.
For applying powder to set my concealer: Real Techniques Setting Brush – This brush is absolutely perfect for applying powder to set your concealer and super inexpensive.
For applying powder to set my foundation: Still on the hunt for the perfect powder brush…
For applying bronzer: Sigma F40 Large Angled Contour Brush – I like that this brush is dense enough that it will apply a good amount of product, but it is soft and slightly fluffy so it does not leave a harsh line of product. It is absolutely perfect for applying bronzer to warm up my face. I also use this to contour (I just squish the brush with my fingers).
For applying blush: Sephora Pro Angled Blush Brush #49 – I like that this brush is more dense and slightly stiffer than the large blush brushes I have been using in the past (Bobbi Brown Blush Brush and Real Techniques Blush Brush). I am someone who likes a lot of blush and I feel that I can apply my blush more precisely and more quickly with this brush.
For applying highlighter: Sigma F35 Tapered Highlight Brush – This brush is perfect for precisely applying highlighter. It picks up the perfect amount of product.
For applying eyeshadow all over lid: IT Cosmetics Heavenly Luxe No Tug Dual Eyeshadow Brush #5* – This brush is SO soft and dense. It is perfect for packing on a lot of eyeshadow onto your lid.
For applying eyeshadow to the crease: Sigma E25 Blending Brush (my favorite brush of all time) – This brush is SO much softer (and less scratchy) than the MAC blending brush. It is perfect for applying shadow to the crease. These brushes are also great to blend out your transition shade as they are very dense.
For applying eyeshadow to the outer corner: Makeup Geek Outer V Brush – This brush is super dense and the perfect shape for packing on eyeshadow to the outer corner.
For blending eyeshadow: Sigma E40 Tapered Blending Brush – This brush is less dense than the Sigma E35 Blending Brush so I typically use this brush (with no product on it) to blend everything out and make sure I do not have any harsh lines.
There are so many makeup brushes on the market that it can be overwhelming. So, I hope this post is helpful for you! I have found that IT Cosmetics and Sigma Beauty make my favorite makeup brushes. However, I would love to branch out and try a few new brands (Wayne Goss, Smith Cosmetics, etc). So, leave your favorite makeup brushes down below in the comments!
